Weekend Boxing Preview

A big weekend for British boxing as Matthew Macklin challenges For Felix Sturm’s W.B.A. World middleweight title. Its a tough ask for the brummie banger as he faces a highley experienced fighter who has been involved in 17 world title fights and has only ever lost twice, one of those a controversial decision loss to the legendary Oscar De La Hoya. Macklins best chance of winning the fight is to go for the knockout early, he has the power as we saw when he knocked out Amin Asikainen for the European title in 2009. Over 12 rounds Sturms experience will come into play and being the home fighter in his native Germany will be a massive advantage.

Sugar Rays Prediction:

Heart says Macklin knockout in rounds 1-6
Head says Strum via decision

Also in action is Sheffields ultra talented welterweight Kell Brook, as he looks to become the first man to stop the super tough Lovermore N’Dou for the W.B.A. Intercontinentel title.
Its a step up in class for Brook, N’Dou has fought the likes of Miguel Cotto, Paulie Mallignaggi and Saul Alvarez. British fans will remember him fighting to a draw with Matthew Hatton in 2009. Brook has the speed to win and at 39 N’Dou’s best years are probably behind him, but it will be very intersting to see how the fight unfolds should it go to into the later rounds as Kell Brook has never been past 7 rounds in his career.

Sugar Rays Prediciton:

Brook to be too fast and slick for N’Dou and to win by decision over 12 rounds.
